Montessori Philosophy

Dr. Maria Montessori believed that no human being is educated by another person. She must do it by her/himself or it will never be done. A truly educated person continues learning long after s/he has left the classroom. Dr. Montessori felt that the goal of early childhood should not be to fill the child with facts from a reselected course of studies, but to cultivate the child's own natural method of learning, thus introducing the child to the joy of learning at an early age.

Our School Philosophy

Every child's mind possesses the ability to acquire knowledge. He/she has the power to teach him/herself. Education is not something which the teacher imposes, but that it is a natural process that develops from within. It is not acquired by listening to words, but in experiences in which the child acts on his/her environment. "Seek to achieve" is therefore the basic philosophy upon which the operating policies, child development programs and educational themes are based here at Westbrook Montessori Academy.

The Joy Of Learning

The programme offered here at our Montessori in Mississauga has evolved from Dr. Maria Montessori's detailed observations of children at work and play. The learning materials are attractive and designed to stimulate the interest of the child. Learning is achieved through working with the materials, and specific goals are provided which are easily attainable by the child. As a result, the child experiences joy with each achievement and will face the next challenge with confidence.

What Others are Saying About Us...

"It is difficult to find a school that provides superior academic focus and fostering, while at the same time a warmth and caring environment. Westbook Montessori Academy does just this. We have been part of the WMA family for years and throughout our children's time there, we have witnessed their development both in academic and social skills. There is a real sense of community among the teachers, administration, parents and students. My children were always encouraged to be their best through the fostering of their creativity and strengths, and they were given the tools to develop a strong work ethic that will carry them through their later years. It is wonderful when your child wakes up happy to go to school, and even better to see them come home excited to share with you what they have learned. "
